Awudu Sumaila is an experienced financial manager and accountant. He has fourteen years of experience in working with governments and private sectors in various countries in West Africa. He has successfully represented foreign investors to negotiate business opportunities in various West African countries. Awudu has excellent skills and knowledge that can guide investors and businesses in the areas of; auditing, investment analysis, business contractual negotiations, financial management, marketing and starting up an entrepreneurship.
Awudu has attention to detail by meticulously preparing, examining, and analysing financial reports, records, preparing and submitting tax documents, creating effective and cost-efficient financial practices and procedures for businesses and organisations. He is experienced in conducting checks for compliance with government and regional financial regulations and conducting business registrations.
He has worked for the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce & Industry (The Gambia) as a finance and account manager. He has worked for an international microfinance company as the head of finance in (Guinea Bissau) and worked at Advance Ghana savings and Loans Ltd as a Clients Relationship Manager/Officer (Ghana).
Awudu’s role was to conduct loan appraisal and to collect detailed personal, business and guarantors’ information, present loan request to the loan committee, monitor loan portfolios and to ensure timely repayments. In addition, he analysed client’s portfolios by using operational reports, organised prospecting and communication actions in the zone of intervention (markets and commercial areas) and identifying clients’ needs, preparing of bank lodgement and cash receipts and propose new products and services to the board of directors. He has achieved, a BA Hons in Business Administration and Accounting and has completed various professional development courses in economics, business management and cost accounting.
Awudu’s experience in accounting and financial management in West Africa is a great asset to AIDER’s investors and businesses who would seek to expand their portfolios in West Africa. His professional guidance, accuracy, local knowledge and the ability to speak various languages minimises risks and maximises output for investors.
